OUR VISIT TO THE MOSQUE: Would start at ___ with a meeting to learn about the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, move into a time of congregational worship at the Masjib (Mosque), and end with a shared communal meal. Please wear modest dress. Women should bring along a head covering (scarf) to wear in the mosque as is the religious custom.
A FEW NOTES ON AHMADIYYA MUSLIM MOVEMENT: The Ahmadiyya movement was founded in India in 1889 by Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, who considered the movement a "re-envisioning" of Islam. He claimed to be the divine reformer (the promised Messiah and Mahdi) of this 14th Islamic century. In many Islamic countries the community has been marginalized and severely persecuted. Ahmadiyya Muslims have been preaching peace since the movement was started, and continue to foster a message of nonviolence. There are approximately 10 million Ahmadi Muslims worldwide.
